Julian Togashi
Julian was born in 1989 to a Japanese father and an American mother. He took great pride in his dual cultural heritage, referring to himself as double rather than half. Growing up, Julian expressed himself artistically through drawing, digital animation, photography, and figure skating. One of his greatest joys was mentoring others to be the best they could be. He believed one could elevate oneself only by elevating others along the way.
As a young man in his twenties, Julian was a budding collector of art by living artists, and was actively mentoring others as an Adjunct Professor of Computer Science at California State University, Fullerton (CSUF). At the time of his death, he had just celebrated his fifth year as IT Manager at Zymo Research Corporation, a world leader in the field of epigenetics research.
In honor of Julian and his commitment to education and mentorship, Zymo Research helped establish the Julian Togashi Living Legacy Endowed Scholarship at CSUF where generations of future scholars may benefit in his spirit.
